A HousingFest First
June 18, 2019
This year is different in HousingFest sponsorship history. Every year individuals, companies, and organizations partner with us in hosting HousingFest— our annual music festival dedicated to ending homelessness in Charlotte. We are excited to welcome returning and new sponsors. For the first time, HousingFest has a Title Sponsor— Sharonview Federal Credit Union.
Sharonview Federal Credit Union is a full-service financial institution serving over 84,000 members nationwide, with branches in North Carolina, South Carolina, and New Jersey. Sharonview Federal Credit Union is also recognized for its philanthropic team, Sharonview Cares, as they are committed to providing support for local nonprofits focused on assisting financial literacy education, eradicating homelessness, and alleviating hunger in the communities they serve.
Homelessness is not an isolated issue. Homelessness does not have a singular solution. Homelessness is a problem within our community and so, it makes sense we engage the community to end homelessness. At Urban Ministry Center (UMC), we are constantly aware of our community partners who are united in the effort of eradicating homelessness and HousingFest is no different.
Susan Savage, Sharonview’s Communications Manager, had the unique experience in volunteering with UMC prior to working full-time at Sharonview Federal Credit Union. Susan volunteered at our 945 campus as a counselor who helped neighbors one-on-one, connecting them to other needed resources, and assisting neighbors with job searches, job applications, preparing resumes, and interview preparations. While working full-time has limited her ability to volunteer her time at UMC, Susan was thrilled to learn about Sharonview’s sponsorship for HousingFest. “I was so excited to learn that my company, Sharonview, values the work of UMC as much as I do, so we can partner to further the efforts to end homelessness in our community.”
Susan is one of many at Sharonview who values UMC’s work to assist some of our community’s most vulnerable residents and eradicate homelessness. It is clear that Sharonview Federal Credit Union is passionate about making an impact in the communities they serve, and we are grateful for their partnership with us for HousingFest 2019. We are so thankful for our community partners and especially to our first-ever Title Sponsor for this event.
Housing Fest will be taking place on June 20th at Knight Theater and will feature North Carolina duo— Mandolin Orange, with special guest Daughter of Swords. Tickets start at $35; we hope you will join us this Thursday for a night of music, awareness, and advocacy.
