2018 HousingFest raises enough to house SIX!
May 18, 2018
“I don’t think anyone should be homeless.” Cheers rang out across Ovens Auditorium last week when legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy voiced his support for Urban Ministry Center’s mission. He and soul icon Mavis Staples did not disappoint as headliners of HousingFest 2018. More photos (credits to Daniel Coston) are posted on the HousingFest Facebook page.
$87,000 was raised this year, enough to provide a year of affordable housing with supports for six people who have experienced chronic homelessness! Thanks to the dedication of our sponsors and festival-goers, our concert to end homelessness has raised nearly $167,000 since its inception. Be sure to stay tuned in. Leading up to our big night of music at ovens, we enjoyed holding a range of smaller events at Snug Harbor, Mert’s Heart & Soul Café, Triple C’s Barrel Room, and WeWork. Look for HousingFest events to sprout up again next spring around the Queen City!
